After years of development, an eco-friendly, circular economy system that converts plastic waste into valuable sustainable diesel fuel is ready to scale and begin mass production.
Goal
b.grn is part of the UK’s environmental opportunities guided by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the European Commission’s strategy for a climate-neutral economy by 2050.
Repurposing plastic waste into cost-efficient fuel is reducing the UK’s use of landfills and its reliance on hydrocarbon imports.
Process
During the process, the electrical energy storage system converts electricity into stored chemical energy. That’s advantageous for converting surplus energy from wind & nuclear power.
It operates at 270 °C – not incineration or pyrolysis. 80% of the plastic waste weight is converted to diesel or naphtha making the process extremely efficient. Lastly, there are no exhaust chimneys, noxious emissions or CO2 from the production plants.
Impact
The benefits for the UK and the global environment are direct, have a positive impact and alternative energy solutions.
